Serving adults with Down syndrome and others with Varying Abilities in the pursuit of an authentically meaningful life.

Welcome to Dash and Scout

We are a special needs collective for adults with Down syndrome and other varying abilities seeking a meaningful, more independent path. The Dash and Scout concept is unique to Virginia and boasts a series of hands-on programs designed to increase the independence of adults with Down syndrome.

The Pillars: Our Programs

    Dash + Discovery

This program will focus on individual and family interviews to evaluate the participants’ current level of independence, daily schedule, interests, community involvement, future goals, etc.   The purpose of this program is to gather a detailed snapshot of the participant so we can develop personal growth goals. Each family will be a partner in ensuring there is a strong focus on individual goals, growth and progress tracking.

    Scout

We understand that everyones path is unique so we carefully evaluate a person’s current level of independence, community involvement and supports in order to develop an independent living experience (a dash of this and a dash of that) that will help them enhance their current knowledge and level of independence.

This program takes the information learned in the Dash and Discovery phase and helps participants discover and create a ”Life Recipe” for greater independence through day and weekend programs.

    Dave's Place

Dave's Place is a transformative independent living weekend (2 night) retreat experience aimed at improving essential life skills for individuals with Down syndrome and other varying abilities in a supportive and immersive environment. Attendees will be empowered to improve independent thinking and problem-solving skills through real life daily living.
