Thinking about College? Some options to consider.

Overwhelmed by where to begin when considering college options? Here are a few resources to consider.

The first resource we recommend at Dash and Scout is Think College. This website is a great aggregator of higher education resources. The team is dedicated to developing, expanding, and improving research and practice in inclusive higher education for students with intellectual disability. Use their U.S. map to click on any state for direct links to all the higher education offerings for that particular state. To review a couple right here in Virginia, read on!

Virginia Commonwealth University’s ACE-IT in College program is an inclusive learning and training program for transition-age adults with intellectual disabilities. With individualized support, ACE-IT in College students participate in employment, college classes, and campus activities. These college experiences create opportunity and prepare students to pursue self-determined futures. You can learn more about it by clicking this link.

Another option to consider, based in Farmville, Virginia, is Longwood LIFE. It provides the opportunity for students across Longwood’s campus to become partners-in-training in their fields of study with the community of Longwood LIFE students. Students will experience peer mentoring and the fostering of social skills for the inclusive workplace environment. Learn more about all Longwood LIFE has to offer here.

Check back with us as we add resources for you…the Dash and Scout team will be updating what we find here in our Resources section often!
